All four books are slated for publication in 2025, which the Brooklyn-based publisher is calling “ Year of the Sheep. Today’s news marks a massive expansion for the creator-owned publisher, which announced its existence almost a year ago this week. helmsman Sebastian Gilner (You may know him from his comics writing and being the editor-in-chief of TKO Studios), The Goat has launched two successful Kickstarter campaigns to date, attracting over 500 backers and raising over $23,000 in funding. They did it all with the slogan “Against All Odds!”
The result of these activities was two extra-large issues of the publisher’s debut series, The dead and the damned, A gritty (and brilliant) fantasy comic written by Girner and illustrated by Kelly Williamsand represented by letters Jeff Powell.
In a comics world that seems increasingly hostile to true independent publishing efforts, this all feels like a huge win for good comics and creator-owned work.
