Spoilers ahead!
After a cliffhanger ending to season seven and months of anticipation, 9-1-1 Returns for Season 8, its second season on ABC. It’s worth mentioning that while Season 7 is shorter, its ten episodes are filled with all the chaos the show loves: we experience a fatal cruise ship disaster, a fan-favorite character discovers something about himself Something new about sexual orientation, a big wedding (that goes wrong before it finally happens…in the hospital), a weird (and that’s a compliment!) dual storyline inspired by Hitchcock’s Vertigo ,” in which one of the main couples faces the drama of adopting another child (and losing that child a few episodes later to revenge on a congresswoman), a fire destroys the home of one of the main couples, Captain 118 Almost killed, a cartel storyline ends with another fire, and–phew! — 118 Captain is replaced by his terrible predecessor. Do you think this is a lot? I had to cut out this “number of things”Previously on 9-1-1…“Bigger!”
What this all means is that while season 8 is only set to begin in a few months All fell downour characters are still dealing with unfinished storylines from the past. therefore, buzz It’s all about reminding viewers of where last season ended for each character – an incredible twist. While last season’s disaster was inspired by The Adventures of Poseidon(1972)a film largely inspired by another 1970s film, Swarm(1978) — Millions of bees are attacking Los Angeles after an accident involving a vehicle transporting them.
However, the first three episodes of the season are part of a larger event, which means the bees are just the beginning of this new chaotic adventure – as much is hinted at in the episode’s first scene, which shows two flying machines Crash in the sky, a plane crash caused by bees. Then it’s time to look back at how this happened and how Athena and the 118 were related to these events.

Let’s start with Athena (Angela Bassett). After nearly dying, nearly losing her husband, and nearly losing her house, she’s back at work – and she’s been given the harrowing task: Dennis Jenkins (Glenn Plummer), the murderer of her fiancé, needs her help. . remained on the loose for decades until she Athena Begins (3.07)he is now being released early after agreeing to help launch a larger operation aimed at exposing powerful people involved in sex trafficking schemes. There’s more, though: Dennis agrees to testify to the jury, but only if Athena is the one who escorted him from Phoenix to Los Angeles.
We see Athena feel very hurt by this and unable to deal with the unfairness of the whole situation – but when she escorts Dennis and they are almost killed on the way, she realizes there are bigger forces involved – they all want Dennis gone . I think this is a great storyline; Athena is a complex character who once again has to deal with past trauma, but in a different way this time, so I’m looking forward to finding out how this will end.
Meanwhile, Buck (Oliver Stark) is having a hard time dealing with his new boss. Captain Gerald (played by Brian Thompson) is a difficult man, unkind and harsh to his subordinates, but Yanni (played by Kenneth Choi) and Hen (played by Aisha Hinds) have dealt with him in the past, Eddie (Ryan Guzman) faced worse situations in the military, so they’re used to it. But not Buck – as they deal with the accident that started it all and free the bees, the free-spirited Buck comes face to face with the sadistic Gerald.
The incident occurred after a mother who was allergic to bees and her daughter were trapped in a car surrounded by millions of the deadly animals. I have to say, this scene is one of my favorite things about the episode because it’s a classic emergency moment that gets everyone involved: We have Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Josh (Bryan Safi) is at the dispatch station responding to an accident. Meanwhile, Hen and Chimney are caring for a man with something stuck in his throat, and Buck finds a way to free the mother and child, despite Gerald’s orders. Classic Buck, Classic Emergency, Classic 9-1-1.

We also discover new things about Marla (Askel Bell), who seems to be settling in well in Buckleyhan’s new home. Will this cause trouble later? I fear so. Another kid who seems equally well-adjusted is Christopher (Gavin McHugh), who seems to be enjoying his time away from Eddie. In this case, trouble has already begun, and I’m honestly very excited for the moment this season is going to deal with all the messy stuff Eddie did in season seven. Rouse) is also dealing with his issues. He doesn’t seem to like the job very much. The poor man is suffering. Someone release him from this incident and let him resume his role as 118 captain.
By the way, the episode ends on two cliffhangers. In the first story, Gerald is involved in an accident at the station, and while Buck tries to save his life, the old and new captains are seriously injured by the end of the episode. Second: Remember that plane crash I mentioned earlier? so. Athena boarded a plane with Dennis and brought him safely to Los Angeles. It’s just that things aren’t safe at all now. Poor Athena. I’d say she should take some time off, but we all know how it ended last time.
Finally, I want to end this review by writing about the moment that made me laugh the most: Eddie’s escape from the bees. What is that? I laughed so hard the whole time, this show is so unhinged when it wants to be. I like it. Overall, this was a pretty consistent season premiere, with solid writing and acting and some very funny sequences, and I give it a high rating on my 9-1-1 tier list Premiere.
Now tell me what you think! what do you think buzz? How would you rate this premiere compared to other premieres? Feel free to leave your impressions/theoretical comments and thank you for reading!
