Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix cheered in and around London’s Leicester Square for Wednesday’s UK premiere of “The New Movie.” Clown: Pas de deux Directed by director Todd Phillips and Warner Bros.
The follow-up to the critically acclaimed and commercial hit film clown It premiered at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month. Phoenix played Arthur Fleck/Joker in the film, and it was this role that earned Phoenix the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in the 2019 film. Lady Gaga plays Harley Quinn, the Joker’s partner in crime.

Phillips spoke to a group of reporters on the red carpet about music’s role in clown sequel. “The music was inspired by an idea in the first film – something Joaquin and I discussed very early on – that Arthur, even though he was left-footed in the world, had music in him,” he said . “You saw it in the first movie when he was jumping down the stairs or dancing in the bathroom. So we thought: Well, if he eventually finds love in life, maybe the music inside him will come out of him. Show up. So it’s not quite as logical as it seems to a lot of people.
Harry Lawtey, HBO star industryplays Harvey Dent, also known as “Two-Face,” in the new movie. Can audiences see more of him in this role? “Honestly, it’s definitely above my pay grade,” he told THR. “All I can say is that it was a huge honor to play against him. This character has an incredible legacy and legacy in comic books and fandom. There are a lot of people who really care about him, and that’s certainly not lost on me. A little bit.
