A mechanical keyboard is an accessory that once you use it once, you can’t imagine life without it. For those of you who spend a lot of time in front of a computer, write all day long, or even play computer games using a mouse and keyboard, a mechanical keyboard is an upgrade that can significantly improve your life. Or at least, it will improve your outlook on life. This Keychron Q1 mechanical keyboard is 62% off at Woot, bringing the price down from $210 to $80.

The keyboard comes in stylish white, gray, or blue colorways. White is simple yet elegant. The gray has some fun yellow keys that pop, and the blue is vibrant and fun.

    The difference between key switches

Switches bring a click and click sound to mechanical keyboards. You won’t see their colors once installed, so you don’t really need to worry about your overall feel for the color, just the intended use of each switch it’s assigned to.

The red switch has linear behavior. The linearity of the keyboard switches means that the resistance you feel when you press the keys is consistent from the moment you start pressing them to the time they contact the back of the keyboard. The red switch is also on the quieter side, so if you’re looking for something that feels good to use but will be used in a shared space like an office or a house with roommates, the red switch is a good choice.

The brown switch is my personal preference because of its tactile behavior. When you press the brown switch key, you’ll feel the most resistance at the beginning of its path, then the resistance smoothes out once it passes the initial threshold. In my opinion, it feels the most satisfying to use, whether typing or gaming. They have a soft sound that’s not too harsh, but is still more noticeable than the red switches.

Finally we have the blue switch. These are what mechanical keyboards are all about. They have a clicking behavior and a clicking sound. This is the computer equivalent of a driver who can modulate his car’s exhaust to make the exhaust pipes of an entire neighborhood buzz. This is very annoying. This is not necessary. But it feels great to be behind the wheel of, er, the keyboard.

Buy the new Keychron Q1 custom mechanical keyboard now for only $80, saving $130 and enjoying a 62% discount.
