Yes, it’s true! After multiple leaks and rumors, Sony revealed Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered in its latest State of Play.
The new version of the game is scheduled to launch on PS5 and PC on October 21, and promises a number of enhancements to bring it up to the graphical quality of Horizon: Forbidden West.
The game will apparently also include over 10 hours of newly recorded motion capture, as well as full Dualsense support. Camera angles will also be improved, which should hopefully make dialogue more interesting.
“Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered launches on October 31. The compelling story and stunning post-apocalyptic world returns with a host of technical improvements, visual enhancements, and upgraded features. It also includes Frozen Wilds “It’s a huge expansion with additional lands, skills, weapons and machines,” said Jan-Bart van Beek, Director of Guerrilla Studios and Director of Art and Animation at the Studio.
“Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered includes over 10 hours of re-recorded dialogue, motion capture and countless graphical improvements, bringing the game to the same visual fidelity as its critically acclaimed sequel Horizon Forbidden West .The game’s lush world includes frozen mountains, lush jungles, and arid deserts, with stunning new visuals and 4K graphics, and travel between settlements is now lightning-fast.
The good news is that anyone who owns the original game can pick up the newly remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn for £9.99/$9.99. If you don’t have it yet, you can buy the new version for $49.99
The game we saw in the trailer certainly looked gorgeous – which is no surprise, since Horizon: Forbidden West is arguably one of the best-looking games on the console.
That said, Horizon Zero Dawn’s remaster feels…well, a bit pointless. Still, remaking games seems to be Sony’s current strategy, and it’s paid off for them in the past with games like The Last of Us Chapter 2’s Upgrade.
To be honest, for £10 I really wanted to upgrade as an excuse to play Zero Dawn again.
