Since its debut in 2022, bat wheel It has become a favorite with kids and kids. The CG-animated Batman preschool series focuses on the adventures of Batman’s sentient, super-powered crime-fighting vehicle as he defends Gotham City. New episodes premiered last weekend, with more coming soon. beat Had the pleasure of chatting with the actors Jacob Bertrandthe voice of Bam, better known as “The Batwheel,” the leader of the Batwheels family.
Taimur Dar: Some people who are more familiar with your on-camera work may not know that you’ve been doing animation voiceovers since you were a kid, e.g. The Legend of Korra and tom and jerry. Today, recording is mostly done alone. But I’m curious to know when you started recording with other actors and watching them work, but was it always just you?
Jacob Bertrand: Even when I started, I was recording myself most of the time. Lately they’ve been experimenting with group recordings. It’s very rare that this happens and brings everyone together. Hope I can do it in the future.
Dar: Is the recording process easier now than when you first started?
Bertrand: I think I was nervous when I first started doing everything. Now I know more about myself. I definitely became more confident. I think I did miss voice acting as a kid because you didn’t have that voice in your head saying, “This sounds stupid.” Or, “This is a stupid idea.” You just wanted to try everything. That’s what I miss, having that childlike curiosity.
Dahl: In my research, I learned that you and your friends and cobra kai Co-star Xolo Maridueña has a recording device in your closet. Can you talk about your experience?
Bertrand: Oh yeah, this is my closet in an old house where we were filming. We were both very lucky to be on that show together. We recorded in my closet. My recording setup is a bit crude. During COVID, you have to make do.
Dahl: Like I said, ensemble recording doesn’t happen much anymore. I’m sure you’ll enjoy being in the same room as Ethan Hawke, the voice of Batman in “Batwheel.” Have you had the opportunity to meet him in person in any capacity since then?
Bertrand: I haven’t had a chance to meet him yet. It’s interesting that you asked how often you shoot face-to-face with people. Hopefully there will be an episode soon where I can meet him and be in the same studio. It would be a lot of fun to do this.
Dar: This new batch of episodes includes bat wheel bear The Wizard of Oz. What was it like working on a series that was so different from the usual and starring in such a classic and iconic film?
Bertrand: That episode was so much fun to do. We’re all playing “normal” characters, but we can add fun little spins on them. Bam is a confident leader, but as uncertain as Scarecrow, but also trying to lead. This is a collaboration I never thought would happen as a kid. It was a blast.
Dahl: That episode had some fun songs. Even the first season showcased some songs. Do you like singing?
Bertrand: Writing these songs was a really fun challenge, but it did stress me out a bit. It was fun to do it, but I do feel like I still have a lot of work to do in terms of singing and getting the tunes right. But I did have a lot of fun, which is the most important part.
Dar: Favorite version of the Batmobile in any media?
Bertrand: The first Batmobile I actually remember was in The Dark Knight Rises. I remember as a kid, I would say, “This is great!” I thought it was really sick. This is my intuitive answer.
Dar: I know you have a younger brother, which seems appropriate since Bam is the older brother in the Batwheels family. Is that the kind of experience you bring to the table when you’re voicing Bam?
Bertrand: I definitely think I’ll try to bring that to the table. you’re right. Bam is indeed the older brother to many Batwheels. It was so cool to have that relationship with everyone. He was just a loving, loving brother. Doesn’t mean he is perfect. He messes up a lot, but so does everyone.
Dahl: Batman is undoubtedly one of the best rogues’ galleries. Who are some of your favorite villains or opponents you’d love to see Batwheel?
Bertrand: I would say we recorded a new batch of episodes. I don’t think I’m allowed to say who the villain is, but I’m excited for everyone to see the villain. We record a lot of stuff in advance, so I try to think about what’s been released and what’s not been released yet. We’re going to make Tutankhamun a villain. I think it’s a fun and cool thing to do.
Dar: There are a lot of great supporting characters here bat wheel animated series. A lot of people quickly owned some of my favorites, like Kitty and Nightbike. Which supporting actors’ performances do you like to watch?
Bertrand: You stole it from me! Night bike! I love his little improvisations. I haven’t seen that actor [Nick Fisher] But I heard he was the most genius kid and he also voiced Bane Buggy. This kid is so talented
Dahl: I’d be remiss if I didn’t get into at least one of these cobra kai question. New episodes of the sixth and final season will return in November. Is there anything you can get fans excited about?
Bertrand: I would say this season has been the biggest battle so far. Crazy big battles. The biggest bet. People try to murder each other. Before feeling like, “We have to defend the valley.” Now it’s like, “I want to physically kill you.”
Dahl: I hope Hawke makes it out alive.
Bertrand: Fingers crossed! no promises!
