The PC version of “God of War Ragnarok” has officially landed on PC. The game launches on Steam and the Epic Games Store on Thursday, September 19th. Ragnarok is the latest Sony first-party PlayStation game to come to PC, but it looks like audiences weren’t in attendance to see the game.
The game’s Steam numbers have been rising since Thursday, but its concurrency spikes on Valve’s platform have plateaued and haven’t reached the heights achieved by the original God of War.

According to the latest statistics, God of War Ragnarok’s peak concurrent users is 35,615 (via SteamDB), which is not a small number for most people, but it definitely puts it at the low end of Sony’s PC catalog.
This peak concurrent number is higher than last week’s other major game, Final Fantasy XVI, but well below the 73,529 in the original God of War. In fact, the game held the record for the highest number of concurrent online games for a Sony single-player game until Ghost of Tsushima claimed the title with 77,154. Tsushima is the first game to be released after Sony introduced a misleading game block due to the need for a PlayStation Network account, which meant the game was unavailable in about 180 countries.
This requirement hasn’t changed much, so a large portion of God of War’s audience may not be able to buy Ragnarok at all because the game isn’t available where they live. Regardless, Ragnarok’s numbers are surprising, especially considering the PlayStation version received so much critical acclaim, and that’s where the story ends.
Steam reviews haven’t been exactly positive either, with most complaining about the PSN account requirement, while others complained about inconsistent performance of the game compared to its opening hours. Those numbers could increase again this week, or when Sony removes (or reduces) the PSN requirement.
