The final results for the 2024 Pokemon TCG Illustration Contest winners are out, and I absolutely love the winning entries.
Earlier this year, The Pokémon Company held a contest for fans of the series to submit some artwork that, if won, would be made into an official Pokémon Trading Card Game card (oh, and the winner also gets Get $5,000, which is good). The results of the contest were finally revealed, and the winner was an artist named Kazuki Minami, who drew probably the best Pikachu card I’ve ever seen. You can see it at the end of the video showing a bunch of other submissions, or just look at the top of this page, but for those who don’t want to do any of those things, here’s a well-rendered piece of Pikachu yawning with The feet scratch the head, filled with a sense of real life that is difficult to achieve.

“I am truly honored to receive this award,” Nan said in a statement. “Since this was my first time participating in this contest, I had no idea what to draw and how to draw it. That’s when my dog’s cuteness came into my sight – and I was inspired to draw Pikachu in this way , reminds me that this award belongs to both my dog and me, and we are both very happy and honored.
One judge even noted that they thought it would be “difficult to draw the Pikachu everyone knows for the theme of this contest,” but were “very impressed by the natural and earthy depiction of Pikachu as a creature in its daily life.”
Speaking of Pokemon TCG, Alex recently tried out the upcoming mobile app Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, saying “Even playing Pokemon Trading Card Game Classic for a short time taught me that this is going about things the right way. “This is one of those rare mobile games where I’ll be there on day one – I can see myself becoming a competitive collector and player in this app, not just for a short time – but long term.
