More than five years after “Parasite” was released, the first trailer for Bong Joon-ho’s next film “Mickey 17” has been released, and it looks like it’s going to be a pretty strong comeback.
Bong Joon-ho is undoubtedly one of the best directors out there, but unfortunately we haven’t seen any of his work in five years. “Mickey 17” has been in the works for a long time and was even supposed to be released earlier this year, but due to last year’s SAG and ABC union strikes and some delays in post-production, the film was delayed. But now, after a long wait, the first trailer for Mickey Mouse 17 is finally here, and it looks like it’s going to be a wild ride.

The concept is this: Robert Pattinson plays Mickey Barnes, a nobody from Earth who signs up to be “Sacrifice,” which means working on a space cruise ship doing imaginable things. The worst job is that if he dies, his memory will be cloned intact. Things start to get a little complicated when more than one Mickey shows up, leading to an all-out Mickey hunt. You can see why Joon Ho directed this film.

As always, Pattinson looks like he’s giving it his all, especially in the weird accent part, and I will always salute him for that. The overall cast is also quite strong, with Pattinson also joined by Naomi Ackie (“Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker”), Steven Yeun (“No”), Tony Collette (“” Hereditary”) and Mark Ruffalo (“Poor Thing”). If you didn’t know, the movie is actually based on Edward Ashton’s novel of the same name, Mickey 7 , so if you’re dying to know what’s going on in it, you can read up on it anytime it’s released.
When it comes to the film’s release, you only have a few months until it hits theaters, as it’s currently expected to hit theaters on January 31, 2025.
