Titans in Destiny 2 will soon see a host of buffs to their abilities, making the experience of playing this powerful subclass more in line with fantasy and making it more viable in endgame activities.
Bungie announced the balance changes for Titan on its Destiny weekly blog, outlining a series of adjustments coming in October with the release of the game’s next episode, The Revenant. The biggest takeaway is that Bungie wants players to play as a Titan (one of Destiny 2’s three character subclasses that’s a little tanky, a little silly) and feel more like the fantasy of playing a frontline warrior, often breaking through the siege. .
However, this doesn’t necessarily mean making Titans stronger in a military sense. Instead, Bungie is tweaking different elements of the Titan build in other ways. In a more obvious impact for players, the Titan Barricade ability now taunts enemies, directing their fire away from teammates and towards the barrier itself.
Titan Barricades are energy walls that Titans can lay out on the battlefield, either as full-sized versions that serve as large shields, or as smaller bunkers that players can shoot at. Now, it basically just acts as a wall that you can hide behind for a few seconds before returning to fight, but enemies will still target players behind the wall or away from it. The idea here is that in most cases enemies will prioritize shooting at the barricade until it’s destroyed, boosting the Titan’s defensive capabilities by allowing it to use it to spread some of the heat away from teammates even if those teammates aren’t actually standing on it behind it.
Roadblocks will also become more powerful, taking 50% less damage from normal enemies, so they will generally last longer in PvE activities. They’ll also provide better protection against blast splash damage: Bungie is increasing protection for anyone standing behind barricades from 20% to 60%. These buffs also apply to the Sentinel Shield superpower, in which the player generates a shield in front of themselves that they wield as they walk around, and when using the “Indestructible” aspect, the player generates a personal shield that can absorb damage – both Players will now have an additional defensive purpose in addition to making themselves harder to kill.
Bungie has also made some other tweaks to make it easier for different Titan abilities to destroy the stasis crystals they create, dealing cold damage to nearby enemies – another way for Titans to increase their survivability without having to specifically buff their vitality. Their damage output. One area where Titans’ damage is increased, though, is with their fists. Titans should be the class that chooses muscle more often than other characters, so their unpowered melee abilities get a 5% boost against players and a 20% boost against PvE enemies.
The blog also details some of the other tweaks Bungie is rolling out in the Revenant update, including adjustments to various “roaming” super abilities that players can use to move around, such as the Hunter’s Golden Gun and Spectral Blade, or the Warlock’s Chaos AoE and Storm Trance. These superheroes have increased damage reduction when used in PvE, and some of them also receive slight buffs, making them more useful against enemies.
