It’s amazing how many people who remember the late 1990s, or who are somehow passionate about a time when they were just a twinkle in their father’s eye or a literal fetus. PlayStation has released the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection. This is your chance to try out and own a retro version of the base PS5 or PS5 Pro that everyone thinks is a bit expensive, along with some cool accessories/parts.
If you buy it after it launches on November 21st (and pre-order it from September 26th), you’ll have to put PlayStation’s rather interesting 30th anniversary playlist on it all while using new and retro tech . Go ahead, Livin’ La Vida Loca is waiting. I don’t make the rules.

PlayStation wrote in a blog about the series: “The new limited edition design pays homage to 30 amazing years of gaming, a journey made possible through the passion and support of our fans and talented game developers. Reminiscent of the first PlayStation console, this limited edition will launch on December 3, 1994, taking the original PlayStation colorway and integrating it into the latest PS5 hardware lineup.
There are two main bundles of these retro hardware that will be sold in “highly limited supply,” one centered around the regular digital PS5 and the other featuring the PS5 Pro, both of which have been promptly recalled via : Some gray paint and some classic PlayStation logos to remind you of things you lose as you age, plus some nice sculpted parts to enhance the “I bought a collectible” feeling.

Both bundles come with a vertical stand and a matching DualSense controller or DualSense Edge controller and a DualSense charging station, but not the optical drive, as you have to buy it separately. You’ll also get the following collectibles:
- Original PlayStation Controller Cable Connector Housing
- Four PlayStation Shape Ties
- Limited Edition PlayStation Poster (1 of 30 possible designs)
Only 12,300 units of the retro PS5 Pro have been sold worldwide, and just in case you thought the bundle didn’t feel collectible enough, each unit is engraved with a “limited edition number” symbolizing the “month and date” of the first PlayStation console release”. The price for these hasn’t been confirmed yet, but I’d bet it’ll be over £5/$5.
