Season 1 squid game Filled with mysteries, twists, shocking reveals, and generally shocking – it’s no wonder this is great The show was a hit on Netflix and earned critical acclaim, including six Emmy Awards and a historic first-ever nomination for Outstanding Drama Series in a non-English language category. So it’s no wonder fans are running wild with ideas of what to expect when the show returns in December.
In a new clip shared as part of Netflix’s ongoing Geeked Week, the cast stars Lee Jung-jae (last season’s unlikely but impossible not to root for winner Seong Gi-hun), Lee Byung-hun (vocalist and definitely in character) Still hiding some big secrets), Wie Ha-joon (played by determined detective Hwang Joon-ho) pulls up a chair and reacts to fan theories gleaned from viewers around the world.
yes squid game Are fan theories the universal language that unites us all? It’s totally possible!
Our favorite suggestions include:
- Season 2 will feature more of the jumpsuit-clad Squid Game crew from season 1, and may even show the same events from their perspective. Wei Hejun likes this theory, but… no.
- There is a special meaning behind the color envelopes chosen by potential contestants for the Squid Game during recruitment. To the fan who proposed this theory, Lee Byung-hyung deadpanned: “I think you’re the only one who thinks that.”
- Ki-hoon will take revenge on the loan shark who forced him to play the game in the first place. “Do you think kind-hearted Sung Ki-hoon would do things that hurt others?” Lee Jung-jae asked happily as footage showed his character brutally crying to someone in season one.
The only reliable bits of information in the film are that there will be “a lot of new games” in Season 2, “they’re all Korean games,” and that “Season 2 is more interesting than all these theories combined.” Of course, the film gives us a fresh perspective. Got it squid gameThree returning stars – all of whom are more charismatic in real life than the characters they play on the show.
New cast members for the second season include Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Kyu-young, Lee Jin-wook, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-hee, David Lee, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Moo-hyun Jae-won, Jo Yoo-ri, and Won Ji-an. We don’t know much about the roles they play, in case you want to know more theories! (According to the video, neither Park nor Jo plays the adult version of Ki-hoon’s younger daughter.)
All will be revealed – or at least more will be revealed; the third and final season is coming soon – when squid game Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on December 26.
