Helldivers 2’s much-hyped patch 1.001.100 was released yesterday and contains enough buffs and tweaks that you’ve probably just finished reading the patch notes by now. By now, many players have been flocking back to the game to give it a try, and Arrowhead has released a major new order that will give them something else to do besides shout about loving the changes.

So how does Arrowhead’s early return restore that feeling as part of the game’s ongoing plans? Well, as people naturally come back to check out the changes, player numbers have grown significantly, with the current 24-hour Steam peak at just over 68,000 players, according to SteamDB, which is higher than the recent average of around 20,000 to 25,000 players.
Meanwhile, Reddit is flooded with posts praising the patch in both meme and non-meme formats. Some players even said “This is truly the best patch ever” and “The game is now both fun and difficult!”
“So far, the balance patch has achieved what most thought was impossible,” the author of the last article wrote. “The feeling of being underpowered against powerful enemies is gone. There are now only 4 meatbags to fight against. Enemies unleash pure chaos.
Another wrote: “I think it’s important for the community to show some gratitude after the emotional roller coaster the developers have been through. A lot of things that I personally have been asking for have been fixed.”
While all this praise and seemingly cult worship of thermite grenades has begun to take place, Arrowhead has also released a new MO.
Community manager Baskina wrote: “Following recent adjustments to fleet capabilities, Super-Earth High Command has ordered an assessment of the combat readiness of the Helldiver force.” To conduct this assessment, Helldivers were ordered to operate on automata. Engage in open war with the Terminal Front, with the goal of increasing the total number of planets in the Super Earth Federation.
“To be successful in this order, the total number of planets liberated during the order must exceed the number of planets stolen by the enemy. Prioritization of which planets will be chosen will be determined by the strategic expertise of the Helldivers.”
