If you’ve never seen it, Tokyo Ghoul takes place in a world where there’s a secret war going on between society and humanoid creatures called “ghouls,” who live off human flesh. Lonely Ken Kaneki finds himself caught in the middle of this conflict, when a date turns fatal and a life-saving mission leaves him horribly transformed into a human-ghoul hybrid. Faced with the choice of becoming a hunter or a hunted, Kaneki must navigate new social dynamics while trying to maintain his humanity.
The entire “Tokyo Ghoul” storyline has a total of 48 episodes, and there are a total of 8 Blu-ray discs released this time. For extra content, you’ll get OVA episodes of Jack and Pinto, text-free end credits, select episode reviews, promotional videos, trailers, and Q&A sessions with the cast and crew. All bundled in a beautiful glossy slipcase featuring newly commissioned artwork from animation studio Pierrot.

While the animation is pretty good, the original manga is arguably even better thanks to the elegant yet grim art of its creator, Sui Ishida. If you want to read the comic, you can save up to 52% by purchasing the complete comic set. The first volume has 14 volumes and is priced at only $89, while the sequel “Tokyo Ghoul:re” has 16 volumes and is priced at $98. Both come in a cool slipcase and come with a double-sided poster.
For more anime deals, there are plenty of great series to check out right now. The classic Digimon movie is getting a new Blu-ray release, the Afro Samurai steelbook collection looks crystal clear, and the original Sailor Moon manga volume is being reprinted in a beautiful box set.
