Joining the Setapp Mobile public beta requires iOS 17.4 or higher and an Apple ID based in the EU. New EU subscribers can get a 7-day free trial of the platform’s $9.99/€9.49 per month “iOS Premium” plan, which allows users to download whatever they like from the Setapp mobile iOS app and Setapp’s desktop/web marketplace iPhone Apps. However, many of the apps it offers can be downloaded for free through the Apple App Store. Users in other Setapp programs who were part of the previous invitation-only beta will need to upgrade or they will lose access on September 17th.
edge The actual process of installing apps using Setapp was found to be cumbersome in our initial hands-on review, but that’s fairly typical for these third-party iOS app platforms. In comparison, the standalone Setapp Mobile service should be easier to use, as it allows users to download iOS apps directly from their iPhone without having to jump through extra steps.
