If you grew up in the ’90s, you’ll be very familiar with the fact that teenage girls’ hobbies and interests were central to their identity.
For a long time in the ’90s and early ’00s, “Horse Girls” reigned supreme, whether you were actively pursuing your equestrian skills in the pastures and stables, or just admiring the whole concept from afar.
For those of you looking for your next lovely growing collection, Beyond Black Beauty is for you.
Was Beyond Black Beauty inspired by a book?
Yes.
“Beyond Black Beauty” is actually inspired by Anna Sewell’s classic novel “Black Beauty”.
As such, the series is promoted as a reimagining of the novels.
With such a diverse cast and modern storytelling, it’s the perfect showcase for paying homage to a classic and bringing it into a new era.
This is the eleventh time this classic novel has been adapted into a movie or TV series, but one never gets tired of classics, right?
What is the first season of Beyond Black Beauty about?
Beyond Black Beauty will follow the story of Julie Dumont, an aspiring young Olympic equestrian.
Julie is a beautiful and energetic teenager living a wonderful life with her family in Belgium, where she has planned a life for herself.
She is almost entirely focused on trying to achieve her dream of competing in the Olympics as an elite equestrian.
Everything changes for Julie when her mother suddenly moves her family to her family’s urban ranch on the other side of the world in Baltimore, Maryland.
However, it was an undeniable culture shock for her and, among other things, seemed to crush Jolie’s hopes and efforts to compete in the Olympics.
Julie therefore struggles to adapt to her surroundings as she adjusts to the vast differences between the elite equestrian world of Belgium and the urban black cowboy world of her extended family.
Julie is understandably angry and violent, but she doesn’t take to the action well until she meets Black Beauty, a high-energy horse with whom she bonds.
With the help of Beauty, her family, and new friends around her, Jolie will not only understand and embrace her heritage, but also forge a new path to continue her Olympic dream.
