Palworld is one of the biggest gaming success stories of 2024, but fans of the game are upset over a recently published interview that suggests developer Pocketpair is considering a move to a live services model. However, Pocketpair quickly released a follow-up statement denying the change while hinting at the possibility of microtransactions being added to the game at a later date.
Pocketpair’s official Palworld X account posted a lengthy message, assuring fans that the interview in question took place several months ago. While discussions are still ongoing, the statement assured fans that “the F2P/GaaS approach is not a fit for us.”
“Palworld was never designed with this mode in mind and currently requires too much work to adapt to the game,” continued Pocketpair. “Additionally, we are very aware that this is not what our players want and we have always put players in First place.”
Regarding the future of the game, Pocketpair’s post did say that the company is “still considering future skins and DLC for Palworld as a means of supporting development.” But the developer promised to maintain an open dialogue with fans about Palworld’s future.
