Demian Bichir (Sister, let the right person in.) has joined the director lineup Scott Derricksonof black phone 2produced by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse.
Bichir will join previous cast members Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davis and Miguel Mora.
Derrickson will direct the film from a script he co-wrote C. Robert Cargill. The film was produced by Jason Blum Joe Hillauthor of the stories on which the film series is based.
The first movie was great, the story centered around Finny, a shy but smart 13-year-old boy who is kidnapped by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is useless.
When the phone hanging on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. They are determined to make sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finny.
The idea of a sequel is in the works, with Hill previously speaking about the idea: “We had some really, really good conversations about the sequel. The thing is, when I saw the mask that Tom designed, Savini and Jason Baker, when I saw The Mask I thought, “If this movie is a hit, there will be a sequel” because The Mask is so iconic.
“It’s like Freddy Krueger’s glove, like Michael Myers’ mask, and it’s this image, the iconic image, that haunts people’s sleep. And, look, horrifyingly, Guys like Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Frankenstein and Dracula, none of those guys were buried, they all came out of their graves and made sequels and then trilogies. .
He continued, “There’s been a lot of talk about how to make a sequel that doesn’t suck. How to make a sequel that doesn’t cheapen the previous movie, that’s still terrible, that’s still intense, that feels organic.
“These conversations went very well. But if I were to provide any details, Scott and [writer C. Robert] In the movie, Cargill would lock me up in a basement and that would be it.
“And the phone doesn’t go through. As you know, the phone doesn’t go through. I can’t call anyone out. So I refuse to give any real details about a possible sequel.
Derrickson also talked about the sequel in a past interview, saying, “Joe Hill came to me with a great idea for a sequel to Black Call, and if the movie does well, I’ll do it.
“He had a great idea that I really liked. Joe was very protective and personal about his material, but he pitched the idea to me and I said, ‘This is how you do a sequel to Black Telephone. That’s how you do it. marvelous.
