Gregory Maguire’s novel Wicked will be released in a collector’s edition later this month to celebrate its upcoming film adaptation. Evil: Collector’s Edition It can be pre-ordered at a significant discount ahead of its release on September 24th. You can pre-order the gorgeous new version of Wicked on Amazon and Walmart for $28, which is 30% off the $40 price. Other retailers, including Target and Barnes & Noble, are taking full pre-orders, so fans may want to get their hands on Wicked: Collector’s Edition as soon as possible.
“Wicked” is the first novel in Maguire’s series, which reimagines L. Frank Baum’s classic children’s novel “The Wizard of Oz.” A new paperback set containing all four novels in the Years of Evil saga. October 1st.
“Wicked: Part 1” will premiere on November 22, and Part 2 is expected to be released in November 2025. and a Tony Award-winning stage musical.
The Wicked prequel, written by Maguire, will be released on March 25, 2025, and you can pre-order the deluxe hardcover edition on Amazon for $30. Elfie: Childhood of Evil will reveal the origin story of Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, and is described as a very strange and relatable coming-of-age story for a young girl.

Wicked: Collector’s Edition is a striking new hardcover with green stained edges, a ribbon bookmark, foil cover art and a detailed map of Oz. Most new hardcover books have dust jackets with cover art, while the actual covers are mostly plain. If you don’t have any foil stamped books, they tend to look better and make unique display pieces for fans.
Wicked: Collector’s Edition will be released on September 24th and will retail for $40, but Amazon is currently offering a 30% pre-order discount, bringing the price down to $28. This is pretty standard pricing for a new hardcover book, so it’s nice to see a “collector’s edition” of a great novel priced at a reasonable price.
If you like the look of foiled covers, it’s worth noting that the Lord of the Rings trilogy – The Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers and The Return of the King – will be available just a week before the release of Wicked: Collector’s Edition. Reissued in the same foil stamping style. These $35 Lord of the Rings Collector’s Edition sets will be released on November 5th.
Barnes & Noble also has exclusive collector’s editions of Wicked and The Wizard of Oz with bonded leather covers. “Wicked” costs $35 and comes with the second novel in the series, “The Witch’s Son,” while “The Wizard of Oz” is only $15.
Reworking a beloved classic like “The Wizard of Oz” is risky and rarely successful, but Gregory Maguire does just that in “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.” Maguire adapted L.
