Late last month, Annapurna Interactive announced a partnership with Remedy to develop Control 2 and bring the series and Alan Wake to film and television. But now, internal disagreements over the company’s future have led to Annapurna’s entire interactive team resigning from the company.
According to Bloomberg, Annapurna founder Megan Ellison and Annapurna Interactive president Nathan Gary failed to discuss spinning off the gaming unit into an independent company. The resignations occurred after a deal for the company was agreed upon. The report states that Allison ended negotiations, resulting in Gary, department co-directors Deborah Mars and Nathan Vera, and the rest of the team exiting the company. The team later issued the following statement to Bloomberg.
“All 25 members of the Annapurna Interactive team have resigned en masse. This is one of the hardest decisions we have ever made and we do not take this action lightly.”
As part of the announcement of the partnership with Remedy, Annapurna revealed that former Epic Games executive Hector Sanchez has been named the new president of the company’s interactive and new media business. Sanchez will now succeed Gary as president of Annapurna Interactive.
Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier also said on Twitter that Remedy’s deal with Annapurna was not affected by the resignation.
Because a lot of people are asking: Will Remedy’s Control 2 and Alan Wake deals with larger company Annapurna Pictures be affected by the departure of Annapurna Interactive employees?

In addition, Ellison issued a statement pledging that the company will fulfill its commitments to other gaming partners.
“Our first priority is to continue to support our developers and publishing partners during this transition,” Allison said. “We are not only working on our existing games, but also on expanding our presence in the interactive space as we continue to look for opportunities to take a more integrated approach to telling linear and interactive stories across film, television, games and theater. .
At this time, it’s unclear whether Gary and his team will form their own company or go their separate ways.
