This is the penultimate episode My deer friend Nokotan This week, the always-amazing anime is apparently gearing up for its finale. Several long-simmering plot points finally pay off spectacularly, rewarding loyal viewers who tuned in to Nocotan’s roaring, tongue-in-cheek excitement. My only concern with the upcoming finale is that it won’t find a suitable place to comfortably wrap up the storyline and leave the deer loyal Nogudan Fans can read the comics to learn more about this epic.
Nokotan’s own arc is clearly prominent here. While she’s been isolated in the B-plot training arc since her defeat to Neko Yamada and subsequent divorce from Koshi, this storyline doesn’t suffer from thrills and chills. Yes, it took a month to air and a supplemental augmented reality game for viewers to see it, but Deer Child’s new antlers plus alpha transformation and abilities were worth the wait. Suffice it to say, the upcoming finale will be a TV event that rivals some of the most memorable Super Bowl games, like the one where the Giants beat the Patriots, or the other one where the Giants beat the Patriots. A game.
Of course, there’s also the Koshi side of this story. The breakup with Nokotan led her into an inappropriate relationship with her sister Anko, a rebound that went wrong. Without going into details, I know that we all on anitwitter have experienced weeks of discussions between pro- and anti-TorAnko shippers. For my part, I can see both sides of the debate while appreciating the literary intent behind the taboo expressed in this work (as I do in my review of this artistic classic) citrus). Also, we have to remember the parallel universe time travel qualifier, which got Koshi into this steamy sisterly complex, even if the previous battle between Koshi and Koshi over Koshi’s fate left something to be desired. This is at least the third most mediocre time travel fight I’ve ever seen, not counting the four fights from the future that I haven’t seen yet.
This all begs a key question: Can the final battle with Shikayamada live up to the hype and the ending? My deer friend Nokotan Is it satisfactory? Kayamada’s merging with the land transforms Kayamada into a god-like being, fully capable of achieving her goal of destroying all deer-based life on Earth, and the stakes for venison seem high enough. This impending eradication has caused problems for many characters, especially the apparent cancellation of the show, so I can’t imagine the story actually following that. certainly, My deer friend Nokotan Things have surprised me before, such as Bashame’s shocking death (she choked on some rice), so it might throw a curve ball. Regardless, I couldn’t tell for sure where this was going by reading the manga before the ending. I’m a professional anime reviewer after all, I don’t take the time to check and compare any assessment to the source material.

Okay, come on, this is My deer friend NokotanOf course, it won’t be as crazy as the penultimate episode. I’d say this show has an above average runtime, but it’s not trying to pull pop team epic A ridiculously ambitious animated crossover or full length Koichi Sakamoto Tokusatsu series. Just acknowledge that any long-form narrative is enough to convey things well.
Interestingly, this episode does feature some sort of epic pre-finale confrontation, but it has nothing to do with the overall arc. Deer Son Scattered Tracking wind act like a low profile Looney Tunes The rivalry between Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd is just a little more spicy. At least, that’s how it seems to me. Yeah, it felt a little torn when they built the Son of Deer and revealed a lightsaber constructed of antler Bartles Just to deflate the whole thing, but it’s so anticlimactic, Babe. Even if there is Wit Studio Working on this show only gives you so much action.
What I can most praise about this episode is its handling of the ongoing relationship between Shikako and Koshi, a relationship that has sustained the show thus far. Koshi found himself realizing that she had actually begun to adopt Nokotan’s attitude after all this time, and noticed that despite her own reluctance, she still always got caught up in her own gibberish (even if said “gibberish” ” is the most important) Wow ah ah ki A short trip to get lost while shopping for new workout clothes). have only There’s enough antagonistic anime chemistry here that I can appreciate the Koshi/Shikanoko bonding turn Shika Yuri. Thankfully, I finally got the chance to call Koshi’s attitude toward her horned friend “tsun”deere”. To be honest, I’m not sure I’d be able to put that one in.
Will these atmospheres and lighthearted entertainment carry over to the finale and the gimmicks the show sets up to do so? It’s hard to say, NogudanIt’s nothing if not inconsistent. But it’ll probably be at least as good as the expected, over-constructed faux-epic final battle. We apparently see more of these types of characters in anime than those dumb deer girls.
