After more than three years of waiting, Dennis E. Taylor’s hilarious science fiction novel “Bobiverse” has exploded in popularity since its debut in 2016, and the highly anticipated fifth novel “Not Till We Are Lost” has been released. Released on September 5th. Release dates for the paperback and Kindle versions have yet to be announced, but Audible’s limited-time exclusives typically last for several months. The Bobiverse series on Audible is performed by Ray Porter, one of the best narrators working today. “Not Till We Are Lost” was another of Taylor’s hit songs. It quickly reached No. 1 on Audible’s bestseller list.

The “Bobiverse” series stars Robert “Bob” Johnson. After selling his tech startup to a conglomerate for millions of dollars, he decided to use cryogenic technology to preserve his head so that he could theoretically be resurrected in the future. Instead, he woke up to find that he was being used to run an artificial intelligence.
Until We Are Lost takes place after the first four books, with several planets now viewing Bob as a threat. There’s also an alternate storyline that sees two other characters, Icarus and Daedalus, venture to the center of the galaxy, where their discoveries could have even deeper implications for the meaning of the universe. The audiobook version of the fifth book is 11 hours and 41 minutes long.
The Bobiverse books are rich in content, but the series never takes itself too seriously. If you like science fiction that’s lighthearted and humorous (like The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy ), then Bobiverse is definitely worth a look. The zany nature of Bobiverse combined with Ray Porter’s always excellent narration makes this series particularly well-suited to the audiobook format. These novels sound interesting. But the first four are also available in paperback and Kindle e-book formats.
Bobiverse Series Paperback
If you prefer physical books, the first four books are available in paperback for $13 to $18, and the first book in the series, “We Are the Legion,” is currently on sale for $14. Buying the first four paperback books costs about the same as buying four audiobooks ($60 total, or $15 each).
Bobiverse eBooks included in Kindle Unlimited
It’s worth noting that the first four books are included in Amazon’s subscription service Kindle Unlimited, which has more than one million e-books. If you have an active subscription, you can borrow up to 20 books at a time and keep them as long as you need. Through September 15th, you can get a three-month subscription to Kindle Unlimited for $12which is the standard price for one month, as part of Kindle Unlimited’s tenth birthday celebration. New subscribers get a 30-day free trial, so if you’re a fast reader you can read all four books without spending a dime.
Alternatively, you can purchase and keep the e-book version for $7 each ($28 total).
Bobiverse audiobook (audio)
As mentioned, all five books are available for direct purchase by readers without an Audible Premium Plus membership, but you’ll eventually run out of money a lot of More to get all five. Members can purchase Audible Credits for $15 each, so the entire series of audiobooks is $75, or $60 if you qualify for a free trial.
