Avatar: The Last Airbender is an incredibly beloved series, and with a new animated movie on the way, the newest actor behind Katara is hoping she doesn’t mess up.
The sequel film to the original Avatar series has been in the works for a while, with a voice cast announced back in April that features some lesser-known names, although it also features Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bauty Star plays an unnamed villain. The new cast will take over from beloved characters like Aang, Katara, Sokka and Toph, and in a recent interview with Collider , Katara’s New voice actress Jessica Matten talked about what it was like taking on the role.

When asked what it means to be a part of the beloved franchise, Marten said “I’m really honored,” and continued, “It’s really cool. I actually got to meet Eric Nan ( Eric Nam, who played Aang a few weeks ago. “I met Dave Bautista in Los Angeles a few years ago, and I met Dave in Toronto through a mutual friend, who was also a Great people, so I’m really excited.
“That’s what you want to do. You want to work with nice, cool people on projects. I’m looking forward to that. It’s coming out early next year. I’m learning more about what Avatar: The Last Airbender is for.” People are prepared to book this role honestly and I really just hope I can do it justice and I hope people enjoy what I do and I just don’t want to let anyone down, that’s all.
Overall, details on the new Avatar movie are still pretty sparse, but it takes place several years after the original series, which featured the Gaang as adults. Of the original cast, only Dante Basco returns, while another fan-favorite Zuko is joined by Erin Nam and Roman Zaragoza Zaragoza take on the roles of Aang and Sokka respectively. The movie is also currently set to be released on January 30, 2026, so you may have to wait a while to see the trailer.
