EXCLUSIVE:Damson Idris-starring Netflix series The Lords’Day is building out its cast
Harry Lawtey (Industry, Joker: Folie à Deux), Arsema Thomas (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, She Taught Love), Sophie Willan (Alma’s Not Normal, Small Prophets), Gemma Whelan (Game of Thrones, Killing Eve) and Timothy Spall (The Sixth Commandment, Goodbye June) have joined the drama, which is based on a novel from House of Cards writer Michael Dobbs
Idris (F1, Snowfall) is set to star as the lead the series, and will be an executive producer on the six-part series, which is from Industry maker and is set to go into production in the UK. Lawtey starred in the first three seasons of BBC and HBO banking drama Industry, before exiting before this year’s fourth run
Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley (Spooks, Humans) are lead writers and executive producers, with Bad Wolf’s Jane Tranter, Dan McCulloch and Joel Collins also EPs and Chris May the producer

As we reported in March, the political thriller will see Idris playing a British secret services agent at the center of a crisis at the heart of British politics
Per the synopsis: “On the State Opening of Parliament, British spy Harry Jones (Idris) finds himself inside the iconic building amidst a lockdown. As the siege escalates, loyalties are tested and selfless sacrifices are made, leading to a desperate fight for survival where not everyone will emerge alive. Can Harry use his skills and training to be the country’s saviour?”
The Lords’ Day will join other upcoming original UK dramas at Netflix such as new Harlan Coben adaptation The Woods, which stars Michelle Keegan and Tom Bateman
