I hope to know more about what the codename of “Destiny 2” is? Bungie will share some details with you next week.
Tomorrow, September 9th, marks the 10th anniversary of Destiny, and it’s been a very uncomfortable time for me, but unfortunately, no amount of discomfort can change that fact. Along with this, Destiny 2 will lead the series into its 11th year, and back in June, developer Bungie revealed some content for this period, specifically something called Codename Frontiers. The studio didn’t reveal anything specific at the time, other than to say that the game’s journey would continue in 2025, although its latest expansion, Final Shape, more or less concluded the decade-long main story.

Luckily, Bungie does have some content on what’s next for next week’s game, even though in a recent blog post it said it “plans to keep our anniversary fun and light-hearted.” The blog post continues, “Next week we’ll be hosting a small in-game celebration for you all and showcasing some of the beautiful art the team has produced over the years. There will be some legendary armor freebies, a fun title to play To win, some Bungie Rewards and more, check back next Monday at 8am PT for our blog coverage.
Notably, Codename Frontiers has also been removed, with the blog explaining, “Same time next week, we’re also scheduled to kick off our Destiny 2 journey – Codename Frontiers. At 8 a.m. PT, we’ll be launching Release a short development version Destiny 2 Game Director Tyson Green and Destiny 2 Narrative Director Alison Lührs discuss where we have been, where we are now, and where we most want to be… in an Insight blog post. To achieve this? We want to make our commitment to ongoing communication with you clear.
The post goes on to say that next week’s post “marks the start of regular updates from our development team on what’s next for Destiny 2,” so those who don’t like update frequency should be very happy.
In July, Bungie laid off 220 employees and integrated more employees into Sony Interactive Entertainment – in addition to one of its previously mentioned “incubation projects” being transferred to the newly formed PlayStation Studio.
