This is a cool new lightsaber toy that features something we’ve never seen in a lightsaber toy before…a self-retracting blade.
It comes from toy company Goliath and is called Power Saber. This is not an official Star Wars licensed lightsaber, but it was originally established at Hasbro.
Power Saber inventor Yair Shilo was actually developing the idea with Hasbro, but when the deal fell through, he obtained the patent and gave it to Goliath.
“We greatly value our partnerships with the inventors who bring us ideas for toys and games. For a number of reasons, we were unable to move forward with this particular concept,” Hasbro said in a statement.
The toy’s description reads: “The Power Saber is the world’s first fully automatic retractable saber. With motion-based SFX, conflict flashes, and LEDs in the hilt, this saber delivers the most realistic experience possible.
“Extend the sword to 35 inches/90 cm and get ready for battle! When the fight is over, the power sword can be displayed on the included stand or carried with you in a belt clip.
“This saber is suitable for kids ages 6 and up and recommended to all fans. Available in red and green, choose your side! Requires 4 AA batteries (not included).
