The 1,396-page, two-volume tome was edited by Lee Unkrich, the Oscar-winning director of Pixar’s “Toy Story 3” and “Coco” and the director of “Toy Story 2,” Co-director of “Monsters, Inc.” and “Finding Nemo.”
The first book in the series, by author JW Rinzler, is a written reflection on the film and its importance, with a foreword by acclaimed director Steven Spielberg. You’ll also find cast and crew insights from hundreds of hours of exclusive interviews with the cast and crew.
The second book is a photo album containing hundreds of photos, concept art, letters, in-depth looks at deleted scenes, and never-before-seen production documents from Kubrick’s personal collection.
Both books were designed by M/M Paris to evoke the look and feel of The Shining’s set design and art direction.
The complete collection of Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining” was originally launched in 2023 as an exclusive collector’s set, limited to 1,000 copies and priced at $2,500, but it still sold out quickly at that price. The upcoming retail edition has been reformatted to fit a slimmer (but still massive) two-volume set and features an eye-catching slipcase cover. It has a list price of $125, but you can pre-order it on Amazon right now for $76.
With Amazon’s Pre-Order Price Guarantee, you don’t pay until your order ships, and you’ll automatically get the lowest price the retailer offers before release. That said, this is a hefty discount for a set like this, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see the price go up rather than down.

‘The Shining’ book and Blu-ray deals
The Shining is often considered one of the best and most important horror films of all time. The 1980 film was adapted from King’s novel of the same name and starred Jack Nicholson as Jack Torrence. Jack’s wife Wendy (played by the late Shelly Duvall) and son Danny (Danny Lloyd) accompany him through the season, but what starts out as a peaceful winter vacation quickly turns into a… The psychological prison plunged Jack into a violent spiritual crisis. While initial reviews at the time were mixed, The Shining has gained widespread critical appeal in the years since and remains one of the most influential films in the horror genre. It’s also one of the most infamous films of all time, and its difficult and even depressing production story adds to the film’s mythology.
If you haven’t seen “The Shining” or Mike Flanagan’s sequel “Doctor Sleep,” you can buy both films on Amazon for cheap on 4K Blu-ray. There are many fans of Kubrick’s films, but Stephen King is not one of them. The novelist rather hated the novels he was adapted from, and the book remains one of King’s best works. His negative opinion of the film may have contributed to his decision to write the 1997 miniseries that aired on ABC. The series, which has three episodes and runs approximately 4.5 hours, received mixed reactions from critics and fans. In the years since, appreciation for Kubrick’s film has only grown, while the television adaptation has been largely forgotten. But earlier this year, Shout Factory relaunched The Shining TV series and released it on Blu-ray. If you like The Shining, it’s definitely worth watching.
If you haven’t read King’s The Shining and Doctor Sleep novels, we’ve included a list of deals below on the hardcover and paperback editions, as well as a set containing both novels and three other King books. The Shining, in particular, is a masterpiece of horror fiction. King published “Doctor Sleep” in 2013, more than 25 years after “The Shining.” It has the truly unenviable task of continuing a beloved classic. Not surprisingly, Doctor Sleep isn’t as good as the original, but it’s still a great book and one that deserves a sequel.
