Of course, the actor playing the character above wears what is essentially a Halloween mask — the actual movie may offer something a little more cinematic — but this is apparently the first time we’ve seen Larry Talbot 2025. Lord of the Ringsthe rubbery “werewolf” looks more like a recurring character children in the hall Brick Baker’s work Howler or An American Werewolf in London. The tattered overalls didn’t help either.
If Whannell, Blumhouse, and Universal were looking for some sense of realism in their werewolf designs, I’m not sure it was the right choice. Whether the creature is the result of an ancestral curse or the victim of a mutant disease that jumped from wolf to man, the decision was made to strip away the traditional lupine traits associated with the monster Apart from Pointed ears are…a choice. The end result looks more like a dwarf than an uncanny fusion of dog and human.
In 2020, Whannell found great success with his new concept invisible manbut his werewolf There have been some hurdles. It was announced in December that Christopher Abbot would take over the lead role from Ryan Gosling, who has been on the project for three years. Prior to this, Whannell was no longer directing the film, working with frequent Gosling collaborator Derek Cianfrance.the place beyond the pine trees, blue valentine) instead get on board. When Cianfrance eventually left the project, Whannell once again took back directing duties.
Of course, it’s entirely possible that the werewolf on display at HHN is no Abbott plays Larry Talbot, but instead (partially transformed?) bites the person who bites him, or even just a werewolf minion. The only plot synopsis released so far for Whannell’s remake says it involves “a man [who] He must protect himself and his family when they are stalked, terrorized and haunted by deadly werewolves on the night of a full moon. A previous photo taken at Universal Studios also seemed to confirm the family lived on the farm. Maybe it’s some kind of rival, a farmhand turned werewolf who, under the full moon, transforms into a revenant who mutilates livestock, setting the direction of the film’s action? Regardless, he still looks like a dwarf.
We’ll know more when werewolf Will arrive on January 17, 2025.
