Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has just published this blog post to update you on the current progress of the studio’s 60-day plan. Good news, the next big update for the game will be released on September 17th.
In case you don’t know, the Free Upgrade update came with some balance changes and tweaks to the flamethrower that weren’t appreciated by many players who felt that Arrow wasn’t intended to make the game better. Befitting a game where they define fun through nerfs to meta-weapons, the studio has been trying to get many of these unhappy soldiers back on their feet.

As detailed in the blog post, the game’s next big update – which Arrowhead CCO Johan Pilestedt and others have been teasing in the past – now has a specific release date – September 17th. Mark it.
What will it contain? Well, Arrowhead is here to outline a series of “significant changes designed to refine and improve your experience in Helldiver 2.” Here’s what the studio listed in its post:
- “We are redesigning armor penetration, anti-tank weapons, and enemy armor and health. As a key part of the redesign, we have performed preliminary balancing of more than 30 weapons and strategies.”
- “We’re overhauling a lot of different enemies to make them feel more valuable when dealing with them with the proper tools, but at the same time making sure they still feel powerful. Enemy robots, including the Hulk, will have reduced armor and the number of rockets they fire. It will also increase that the attack power of enemies such as Destroyers and Gunships will be limited, so that the armor value of particularly difficult bug enemies such as War Horses, Impalers and Bile Titans will also be reduced.
- “Weapons such as autocannons, heavy machine guns and anti-materiel rifles will be more effective, providing greater loadout versatility. We are also working on further improvements to the flamethrower weapons.”
- “We’re using this opportunity to consider the fantasy of new players and the design goals of these weapons and strategies based on the feedback we receive and the trends we observe during gameplay.”
So, that’s it. Arrowhead also provided some general updates on its development progress, writing: “It’s been a few weeks since we committed to the 60-day plan, and our team has been hard at work refining the gameplay experience through changes to a variety of systems, from weapon balancing and With everything from enemy behavior to overall game mechanics) undergoing in-depth reviews and tweaks to address your concerns, we’re fully committed to ensuring Helldivers 2 meets the high standards we all expect.
“We value your feedback and are always looking for ways to increase community engagement,” the studio added. “Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks as we work together to make Hellraiser 2 the best game ever. Good game. [17] There are more details.
