Cvent’s spending momentum continues with Splash acquisition

Cvent is expanding its overall product portfolio through the acquisition of Splash. The private event marketing technology company was founded in 2011 by Ben Hindman and Brett Boskoff.

Cvent now has deep pockets after being acquired by Blackstone for $4.6 billion last June. The acquisition of Splash follows the acquisition of AI-driven procurement platform Reposite in June. In January, Cvent acquired trade show-focused companies Jifflenow and iCapture.

Splash is known for providing event marketing tools to corporate clients. The platform focuses on providing easy-to-use event website and email marketing templates that easily follow corporate branding. The core customer base is corporate marketers, especially those who focus on field marketing. Instant data flow in and out of the CRM is also a feature.

Splash has 500 customers, including more than 60 Fortune 1000 companies. Now they are part of the Cvent ecosystem.

Splash quickly updated its privacy policy on its website. “Personal data processed in accordance with this privacy policy may be disclosed to our parent company, Cvent,” it said.

Prior to the Cvent acquisition, Splash raised $39.5 million in seven rounds of funding. That’s according to Crunchbase. In January, Splash CEO Eric Holmen left the company. He joined as chief revenue officer in February 2020 and transitioned to chief executive officer in June 2021. Matthew Curry is Splash’s interim CEO.

    Integration of marketing and events

“The convergence of technology-driven marketing and events is an exciting growth opportunity,” said Reggie Aggarwal, CEO and founder of Cvent. “Combining Splash’s expertise in live marketing events with our powerful events and marketing platform further enhances our ability to enable marketers to create and execute branded, high-impact event programs that deliver real results.

Splash is a Skift Meetings 2023 winner, recognized for having “Best Event Management Platform.”

Splash has embraced artificial intelligence. Attendance Insights, a predictive attendance tool powered by artificial intelligence, is its latest launch. Predictive machine learning algorithms are trained on hundreds of thousands of Splash event hosts.

Artificial intelligence was also the focus of the Cvent Connect conference in San Antonio in June. About 4,000 people attended the meeting in person, with 6,000 listening online.
