PlayStation’s massive hero shooter Concord now faces imminent closure, but it’s still only a short time away from its farewell tour. If you’re hoping to get into competitive mode, though, you probably won’t get what you’re looking for, thanks to those XP farmers jumping into the sea in search of loot.
In case you missed it, Sony and Firewalk Studios announced yesterday that the game will be shutting down on September 6th, following a lackluster launch last month with a lackluster reception. A full refund will be provided.

With this deadline approaching, many players have decided that they really want to get Concord’s Platinum trophy before it drops, while its creators “determine the best path forward.”
In many cases, what is the final hurdle? A trophy called “Experienced Freelancer” requires your Freelancer reputation to reach level 100. You know, the standard achievements that usually exist to reward those who stick with a game like this for the long haul.
Well, since the game won’t be around for very long unless the game further returns to the market, some people have decided they need to rack up XP quickly and do so by killing themselves in the game’s Rivalry matches.

As you can see in the clips of several of the tweets I’ve included, this practice resulted in matches that lasted for minutes or seconds as both teams competed to see who could eliminate themselves first. The logic seems simple – end the match as quickly as possible so you can kill as many opponents as possible in quick succession, quickly boosting your Freegunner reputation, since Competitive is the mode that seems to offer the most XP points every time it pops up.
It seems like this weird grind doesn’t necessarily produce the quick expansion up the level ladder you’d hope for, though, with Radek – one of the Twitter users who highlighted the point – revealing that doing it for about an hour straight only Will get them from level 44 to level 45.
So if you have enough ways to earn Living Legend status in the remaining days, you may want to move on. Or, simply forego having the rare platinum trophy to brag about online.
