After months of waiting, it looks like Baldur’s Gate 3’s seventh patch will finally be released next week.
Fans have been waiting for Patch 7 for some time, and at the end of a PAX West panel this week involving game developers, head Larian Swen Vincke confirmed that you can expect to download it sometime next week. The exact date hasn’t been confirmed yet, so you’ll still need to stay vigilant in the meantime. It’s also important to note that this patch will only launch on PC, with the official Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitter account explaining: “There are so many changes and new features coming in this patch that it will take longer to get them.” these patches.

For some context here, this update finally introduces the oft-requested mod tools, which should make it easier for all modders to create their own classes, spells, and more. Normally, most console games don’t get mod support, but similar to how Bethesda started allowing certain mods for its games on its console versions, Larian has also been working on getting mods to work on both the Mac and console versions of the game.

Beyond that, as Larian has teased before, this update will offer an improved evil ending that should be darker than what’s already in the game. Of course, it’s well known that no one in the game goes the evil route because being mean feels so bad, so I guess we’ll never know what those endings will look like!
However, don’t expect too much from Baldur’s Gate 3 after this. While there may be some updates coming, Larian has already started working on several new RPGs and has no plans to make Baldur’s Gate 4, so be sure to enjoy this update while you can.
