The newly released Castlevania Overlord Collection is the latest remaster of the classic Castlevania game, and if you’re looking for a monster hunting solution on PC, Green Man Gaming has you covered. The retailer is selling the Castlevania Dominus series for 25 percent off the list price, bringing the cost of four 2D Castlevania games down to $18.74. If you grab this deal, you’ll get a key to redeem on Steam, which is pretty cool considering Steam itself has the collection at full price for $25.
The Dominus Collection includes three side-scrolling games originally released on the Nintendo DS: Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, and Castlevania: Order of the Order. These ports bring all these games to one screen, as opposed to the DS’s dual-screen design, which means all three ports have been slightly redesigned to compensate. The map and inventory screens are now displayed on the right side instead of the bottom screen of the DS. Another notable change is that Dawn of Sorrow’s stylus drawing mechanics have been adapted to quick-time events.
In addition to the three Nintendo DS Castlevania games, the Dominus series also includes a remaster of the first Castlevania arcade game, Haunted Castle. This port includes a redesigned version of the arcade game, as well as the option to play the game in its original format.
The Dominus Collection also adds some quality-of-life improvements to all games, such as rewind functionality and save states.
This is actually the third Castlevania game in the series, as Konami has released older entries in the series that were only available on outdated hardware. You can also pick up the 2019 Castlevania Anniversary Collection for PC on Fanatical, where it’s listed at 20% off the original price, down from the usual $20 to $15.74. The Anniversary Collection includes eight games: Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Super Castlevania IV, Castlevania Adventures, Castlevania II Belmont Trevent,” “Castlevania Bloods” and “Kid Dracula.” It is also included in the e-book Castlevania History – Book of the Crescent Moon, which chronicles the development of the series.
The Dominus Collection is expected to be available in physical form from Limited Run Games with multiple cover options, and will be available for pre-order in September. You can also get physical supplemental content for the Castlevania Anniversary Collection and the Castlevania Premium Collection re-releases of Konami’s other Castlevania games on Amazon, some of which also feature alternative cover art. See the list below. Fair warning: many physical copies are very expensive because they are out of print and sold by third parties.
