In an interview with L’Officiel, Kidman explained why she accepted these roles and made it clear that it wasn’t for the money. Just for fun!
Kidman recalled, “Everyone would ask, ‘Why are you doing that?’ and I’m like, ‘Because I can kiss Batman!’ … What people don’t understand is that it’s not about the paycheck.” A lot of the mainstream blockbusters I shoot want to be different.
As for why she agreed to play Queen Atlanna in the Aquaman series, it wasn’t because she was passionate about Aquaman. Neptune comics, that’s because she’s a fan of director James Wan and his horror movies.
Kidman said she was delighted when he asked her to take the role because she initially thought it was going to be a horror film. “I really wanted to work with him in a horror film,” she said.
However, taking on the role of Aquaman might eventually lead to her starring in a James Wan horror movie, which would be awesome! I would love to see Kidman star in another horror movie.
