The company announced in a blog post on Wednesday that you can now add text and photo stickers directly to posts, as well as use a new font (neva4get Hidden Papyrus). It’s like another layer you can add on top of your photos and can be used during the editing phase of your Instagram posts.
Will Instagram ruin your grid with rectangles?
To use the tool, select the photo you want to post and click the text button (the big and small Aa in the corner). Enter the genius word you’d like to add at the top, and you can scroll through the different fonts, just like writing a scroll.
Mix and match speed of light
You can also layer more images by clicking the gallery button (the one that looks like a small picture), then moving and resizing it. The feature doesn’t yet have the ability to manage or lock layers (like Reels does), but that may be coming soon. If you click on a sticker, you can change its shape, just like a scroll.
The update comes on the heels of a slew of new features for Instagram, including testing a rectangular grid, increasing the carousel limit to 20, Myspace-like profile songs, multiple tracks on Reel, Reels and posts Disappearing annotations and the casual ability to create AI versions.
