In Will Trent’s season two finale, Will arrests Angie for being an accessory to murder because Crystal killed so many sex offenders.
Although Angie didn’t learn of Crystal’s involvement in the murders until the end, she covered up Crystal’s first murder, Lenny, who sexually abused two women. If she could have gotten some help from Crystal, she might not have gone on a killing spree.
This is a very interesting case going into season three that will not only affect Will and Angie, but also the GBI and APD.
Can Will and Angie find their way back?
Will arrests Angie, which is the final suspense. It divided characters and fans.
While Angie suspected Will might know about her involvement, she hoped he would choose her this time, and it broke my heart when she said this through sobs.
While many people understand the complexity of the situation, Will sees the case in black and white. However, as he looks toward his future with Angie, we see what he’s giving up now that they’re finally happy.
Can they ever be happy again? It’s hard to forgive your partner after he arrests you. However, as things like this happen all the time on soap operas, couples end up going down a long road.
Angie and Will seemed destined to be together. The younger version of Angie even knew Will would turn her in, and what those flashbacks might mean.
While the two are apart, Will will work alongside Assistant Prosecutor Marion Alba, played by Gina Rodriguez. Following the usual trope, two people dislike each other but are forced to cooperate.
We’re not sure if the series is setting up a love triangle, but it could be interesting.
Will the series make Angie darker?
Angie has spent the past two seasons working on staying sober and becoming a better person.
In the Will Trent season 2 finale, she even confided in Franklin that reuniting with Will gave her a reason to stay sober.
Losing will could cause Angie to fall off the wagon. In the past, she’s spoken about staying busy so she doesn’t mess up. Losing her APD job may also hamper her sobriety.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg. In Will Trent’s novel, Angie is darker and meaner, and losing everything could lead her down that path.
Erika Christensen is great at adding more layers to Angie’s character and is really good at adding a dark side. However, it’s hard to see Angie mocking Will’s dyslexia or playing hurtful pranks on him or his new love interest.
Ideally, the series will find a way for Angie to express her anger and resolve her issues without being as vitriolic as the book version.
Will the series show Angie’s consequences in real time?
If Will Trent Season 3 airs like Season 2, there will likely be another seven to eight month time jump and they will air the episodes in real time.
While we don’t need to watch every detail of Angie’s arrest, skipping the dramatic scenes of seeing her jailed or on trial would be disappointing. The ending scene hinted that Captain APD and Franklin would fight for her, so it would be interesting to see someone come to her defense.
After the finale, co-showrunners Liz Heldon and Daniel Thomson joked that they wanted to show that the justice system works differently for police officers, especially those with extenuating circumstances like Angie and Lenny .
We’re not sure if we’ll see an actual trial, or if Angie will lose her job or face other consequences.
Angie is passionate about helping survivors of sexual crimes, especially teenagers. If she couldn’t work in the APD or GBI, she might become a private investigator.
How will the dynamics change when GBI and APD change?
We assume Angie will not return to APD or be promoted to GBI.
One person fell, was it the APD, or was it teaming up with the GBI?
Currently, most of the APD blames Will for Angie’s arrest, which could create an awkward work environment, especially with Franklin and the detectives. Ormwood was in his ear.
I suspect Amanda and Faith will be the only ones rooting for Will.
We know he disappeared after the incident, so we’ll probably be back for a lot of drama.
What’s the future for the rest of the team?
We don’t know much about the rest of the team, especially Amanda, but hopefully they’ll delve into her backstory again.
Season 2 explores all of the characters’ character arcs, exploring how issues in Michael’s marriage softened his character and allowed him to become a more hands-on father.
In the Season 2 finale, his wife Gina returned, demanding a divorce and full custody of their children. While Will Trent doesn’t usually show court cases, it would be interesting to highlight some custody cases.
It goes to show how much Michael has changed, and the actors playing his children on screen are a joy to watch.
Faith is the only one to end Season 2 on a happy note. She always put her career or raising Jeremy first, but ultimately found love and happiness in Luke.
Ideally, the series will expand on this in season three.
There is no reason why faith cannot have all of this. I’d love to see the series tackle Faith’s pregnancy like the books do, and how she deals with work and diabetes.
This is a relatable storyline that many people will appreciate.
I know we still have a long way to go, but we are in this together. What do you hope to see in Season 3?
