Megacity Screenwriter and Director Francis Ford Coppola recently spoke about the making of his upcoming sci-fi film Megacity He didn’t want his film to be considered some kind of “woke Hollywood production,” so he cast actors who were considered “cancelled.”
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Coppola explained: “What I don’t want to happen is that we’re perceived as some woke Hollywood production that’s just preaching to the audience.
“There were characters in the cast that were written off at one point or another. Some were ultra-conservatives, some were ultra-progressive politically. But we were all making a movie together. I thought it would be fun.
movie star Adam DriverIt tells the intriguing story of an architect who dreams of building a utopian version of New York in the near future and battles with a conservative mayor who has other ideas for the city.
Epics contain countless storylines and characters. “In this epic tale of political ambition, the fate of Rome haunts a modern world unable to solve its own social problems.”
The rest of the cast includes actors like Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, and Dustin Hoffman, who are all surprised.
LaBeouf is currently dealing with a lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend and singer-songwriter FKA Twigs over allegations of physical and sexual abuse.
As for Hoffman, he was accused of sexually harassing a 17-year-old intern who he worked on the set of the 1985 TV movie “Death of a Salesman.”
Then there’s Voight, a Republican and staunch supporter of former President Donald Trump, which has been a point of contention in his relationship with daughter Angelina Jolie.
Coppola continued, “That led me to politics, and if I started talking about politics, my publicist would yell at me. This movie isn’t going to cure us. But honestly, I believe it’s going to save us.” It is we who have to talk about the future.
“We hope that being able to ask whatever questions we have to truly understand why this country is divided right now will provide the energy to defeat those who want to destroy our republic.
“I made this film to contribute to that. I just wanted this film to start a conversation. Without dialogue, there can be no utopia.
Coppola described the film as “a love story. A woman’s loyalty to two men is different. But it’s not just two men. Each has a philosophical tenet.”
“One was the father who raised her, who taught her Latin on his lap and who was committed to a more classical view of society, a Marcus Aurelius view.
“The other is a lover, an enemy of his father, but committed to more progress. “Let us leap into the future, let us jump over all the garbage that has polluted mankind for ten thousand years. Let us find our true selves, we are an enlightened, A friendly, happy species.
Coppola also talked about the film and his goals, saying, “My number one goal was always to make a film with all my heart, so I came to realize that it was going to be about love and loyalty in all aspects of human life.”
He explained: “Megacity echoes these sentiments, in which love is expressed with an almost crystalline complexity, our planet is in danger, and our human family is in an almost suicidal behavior, until becoming a very optimistic film that believes in humanity’s genius to heal any problem before us.
The filmmaker added: “I believe in America. Our founders borrowed the Constitution, Roman law and the Senate to establish a revolutionary government without a king. Without the guidance of classical learning, American history would neither have happened nor May succeed.
