Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater is a remaster of the beloved PS2 spy game that aims to modernize the look and feel of the original while retaining its quirky humor and charm. Based on the first batch of hands-on previews of the new metal gear 3it sounds like publisher Konami has been successful so far.
Originally disclosed in Sony May 2023 PlayStation Showcase, Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater Its advanced Unreal Engine graphics overhaul for the base game has been shown off in a few clips, but not much else. While the remaster doesn’t yet have a release date on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC, a new preview of the first 90 minutes of the game depicts a fan-favorite faithful recreation of director Hideo Kojima’s classic game.
While the graphical overhaul is a highlight, a slew of quality-of-life updates appear to go a long way toward improving the overall experience. “Delta’s modern control system and Metal Gear Solid V,” giant bombDan Rector for game points. Handy tooltips show how close combat plays out on the fly and prompt you with all your action options in other scenarios.
“It’s also one of my favorite games, and since the game was already so good, we didn’t want to ruin the original creative direction of the game,” Konami senior Noriaki Okamura Tell gas chromatographywhich also confirms that the game will run in 4K, 30fps quality mode, and at a higher target frame rate in performance mode.
“I’m shocked by the Delta’s appearance because, honestly, I don’t know if Konami still has it,” writes Rich Stanton for computer gamer. “But the jungle environments here are visually some of the best I’ve ever seen, regardless of the map layout that supports them, and the air is so humid you can almost feel it on your skin.”
Others, like IGNof Matt Purslow wasn’t too happy with how closely the remake followed the original. Cutscenes are nearly identical, but with better graphics, while the original voice acting and even loading screens are carried over from the PS2 game, although they’re much shorter now. Some purists might be happy to hear that Konami didn’t take any real artistic license metal gear deltawhile some may be a bit disappointed by how similar it is to games they already know by heart.
