Frontier currently offers fiber internet in most of the 25 states it serves, including California, Texas, Florida, New York, Minnesota and more. The company previously only offered 2-gig and 5-gig options, but now customers living in the Frontier service area will have access to a 7-gig plan. This plan features symmetrical 7Gbps upload and download speeds, along with unlimited monthly data and an upgraded Wi-Fi 7 router.
Oddly enough, while Frontier is the first to launch 7Gbps nationwide (sort of), it’s definitely not the cheapest super-fast internet. Google Fiber has an 8Gbps plan for $150/month, but it’s only available in select cities, such as San Antonio, Texas; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Mesa, Arizona. (Google is also experimenting with a $250/month 20-show plan in some areas.) Optimum also has a $300/month eight-show plan, but it’s only available in the New York tri-state area.
