Borderlands 4 has been released at Opening Night Live from developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K. The announcement was made with a very sparse trailer, which shows a planet traveling across a cosmic ice field before a character picks up the mask and turns it around, revealing it to be the iconic Borderlands face you see in the game /GasMask cover art to date.

That’s right; no smart robots, no dancing, no guns, no real information at all. All we know is that it will launch in 2025. It’s only available on new generation consoles and PCs.
The last we heard about Borderlands 4 was a botched update posted by a developer on LinkedIn late last year.
Thanks to a former Gearbox developer named Randel Reiss (who was contracted to work at Gearbox-owned Lost Boys Interactive), we know that Borderlands 4 and Tiny Tina’s Wonderland 2 are in the works at the studio .
This could be good news for movie fans, especially after the movie underperformed at the box office this summer. Our most recent title was Borderlands 3 in 2019, so it wasn’t that long ago. Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, a fantasy-themed spin-off of the stylish shooter, was released last year to generally positive reviews upon release.
Hopefully it washes the taste of the Borderlands movie out of people’s mouths. We gave it 1 star, but we still think that’s probably being generous. It was also a box office failure.
After the movie came out earlier this month, we saw a surge in player numbers for Borderlands, Borderlands 2, and Borderlands 3 as these poor souls desperately searched for someone who still cares. The reason for this IP. New games may increase this as well.
