This is exciting news for fans of The Librarians!
The TNT fantasy series ended its fourth season in 2018, but the network has just announced it has acquired the rights to its upcoming spinoff The Librarians: The Next Chapter .
In a press release issued today, producers revealed that the series will “make a triumphant return to its roots” on the network where it all began.
Producer Dean Devlin said: “Returning to TNT with this series means a lot to us, and we are extremely excited about TNT’s dedication to their fans and providing them with the The sequel to the beloved fantasy series.
“The new series centers on a ‘librarian’ from the past who travels to the present and now finds himself trapped here. When he returns to his castle (now a museum), he inadvertently releases magic,” the press release reads.
“He gets a new team to help him clean up the mess he’s made, assembling a new team of librarians. The new series stars Callum McGowan (“Jamestown”), Jessica Green (“The Outpost”), Olivia Morris (“Hotel Portofino”) and Bluey Robinson (“Britannia”) star in a guest appearance.
“Christian Kane will guest star as ‘Jacob Stone.'”
The series began as a series of television movies that aired on TNT.
When the original series was canceled in 2018, audience outrage was palpable.
But just when fans were starting to lose hope, The CW ordered a sequel for 2023.
The news that the show will now return to TNT was unexpected, but not unwelcome.
Of course, TNT halted production on The Librarians at one point, but it was the network that gave the series life over three movies and four seasons.
In fact, TNT is Back Over the years, developments in the librarian industry mean that senior executives must be eager to recapture the magic of the original project.
Regardless, fans are hoping that the upcoming series will satisfactorily continue the story of the 2004 film starring Noah Wyle.
A release date for The Librarian: Next Chapter has not yet been announced.
