Sony Block Solutions Lab announced the development of a new blockchain platform—Soneium.
The program focuses on driving the adoption of web3 technology by providing scalable, secure and user-friendly Ethereum Layer 2 solutions. The new platform aims to integrate decentralized technology with consumer-facing applications in entertainment, gaming and finance.
Soneium is developed in partnership with major web3 organizations including Astar Network, Circle, Chainlink, Alchemy and The Graph.
What is somium?
Soneium is a next-generation Ethereum layer 2 blockchain created by Sony Block Solutions Labs that emphasizes scalability, security and ease of use and is designed to support a wide range of applications.

Soneium is built on the Optimism Foundation’s Op Stack and is fully compatible with the EVM, making it available to developers who want to build and scale high-volume applications.
Sony Block Solutions Labs is preparing to launch the Soneium testnet, which will provide developers with initial opportunities to directly use the blockchain. In the coming weeks, Soneium plans to release technical documentation outlining the platform’s capabilities and providing developers with the necessary tools and SDK to start building on Soneium immediately.
