Google did a lot of things right with the Pixel 9 series. The hardware is lovely, the chip is fast, even the giant camera bump has a way, you know? From all aspects, it is a well-deserved Android flagship product. It also feels a bit like a harbinger of doom.
The Pixel 9’s AI photography features, especially the “Reimagine” tool that lets you change photos with just a prompt, seem like a major and worrying step toward a world where we won’t be able to trust almost any photo. These are not photos generated by artificial intelligence, with too many fingers and tons of other information; they are generated by artificial intelligence. These look just like the photos. them yes photo! But they are not true. We are not ready to accept what this means.
Finally, it’s time for a lightning round, in which we talk about JBL’s new headphone case and its bigger screen, the never-ending disaster of the new Sonos app, and the sheer weirdness of Amazon removing a major feature on its digital photos decision framework.
