Starfield finally got its first land vehicle this week, with Bethesda announcing the free update during Gamescom’s opening night live alongside the release date for the Shattered Space DLC. While it almost certainly won’t convert you if you weren’t already interested in playing more, it at least spawned an inevitable series of interesting vehicle mods.
Once the trailer for the Rev-8 buggy was released, we all saw it get some slippery tweaks and all the “cor, will you check out this cool stuff” car montage options, as is always the case, but still incredibly fast of.

Since the Buggy update was released on August 20, everyone has been working on more than half the population of New Atlantis in the kind of hit-and-run spree that Trevor Phillips or Homer Simpson usually reserve. Likewise, a rather lively vehicle modification scene is already underway on Starfield’s Nexus page.
Many of the pieces currently listed are model swaps of preset off-road vehicles or new additions to the Marine Technician’s Garage, allowing you to adopt the likes of a classic Jeep, Saints Row: The Third’s STAG N-Forcer, and of course There’s a Halo Warthog as your whip of choice. Oh, and there’s a classic NASA lunar rover.
My favorite one so far is the classic Star Wars land vehicle from A New Hope – even if you want C-3PO sitting in the back and Chewie riding shotgun, it seems you’ll have to buy some other mods.
Then, there are the trucks. This totally un-dodgy vehicle has Crimson Fleet logos plastered on its sides and has chunky tires so you can take it across desert planets and dusty moons with something you definitely didn’t steal of inventory.
Of course, some tuners have also just tried to upgrade the regular Rev-8, with one effort adding a tuned version called the “Rev-9” that boasts “increased torque, speed, and the ability to generate additional power.” .
Finally, modder Shadedness has even launched a tuning mod for any vehicle (even modified ones), which currently allows you to modify the damage dealt by a vehicle’s weapons and make it capable of storing 250kg or 500kg of cargo. “This may require some further functionality and adjustments based on feedback – vehicles are a completely new feature and may continue to evolve,” the modder wrote.
