Civilization 7 made a splash at Gamescom with a new gameplay trailer, which will be released on February 11, 2025. You’ve still got some time to kill before diving into the long-awaited sequel – and if you’re looking for something to make the wait a little easier, we recommend reading Sid Meier’s Memoir: A Life of Computer Gaming. Written by Civilization founder and author Jennifer Noonan, this memoir is a fantastic read, especially for Civilization fans (no surprise).
“Sid Meier’s Memoirs” was published by WW Norton in 2020. It has 304 pages and records the 40-year video game career of the “Civilization” creator. Every aspect of his illustrious career has been touched upon, from the founding of his studio, MicroProse, to the development of classics such as Pirates, Railroad Tycoon and Civilization. Sid Meier’s Memoirs is available in four formats: hardcover, paperback, Kindle, and audiobook.

In addition to details about his life, the book offers Meyer’s perspective on “the history of the industry, the psychology of gamers,” and many other insights.
If you prefer physical books, hardcovers are available at great prices, but you can save five bucks by opting for paperback. Those who prefer e-books can pick up a copy for just $10, while readers who prefer to listen to books on their morning and afternoon commutes (or while playing games) may want to check out the audiobook version.
You can buy the audiobook for $15, but it’s worth noting that Sid Meier’s memoir is included with an Audible subscription. New subscribers can try Audible for free for 30 days.
