If you’re not good at writing emails, Gmail’s latest Gemini driver update may solve your problem.
Google announced in a blog post on Tuesday that Gmail’s new “Polish” feature uses the company’s Gemini AI to accurately process your drafts. It is an extension of the artificial intelligence “Write for Me” feature launched for Google Docs and Gmail last May.
The Polish feature is available through the Optimize My Draft shortcut, which now appears in email drafts on desktop and mobile Android and iOS devices. But it’s only available to users who purchase Gemini for Google Workspace or Google One AI Premium. Google said the feature will be turned on by default for these users.

When composing an email in Gmail, you can select the “Optimize my draft” option to do one of the following things for junk words: Formalize, Elaborate, Shorten, and now Polish. The Polish option lets you write your email as rough notes and then convert it into a correct, formal email that others will hopefully understand.

According to Google, the feature works as follows:
“When there are more than 12 words in a draft email, the Refine My Draft shortcut will appear below the email content to indicate that options are available to polish, formalize, elaborate, or shorten the draft, or to write the draft. New draft.
It’s one of the few new things coming out of Gemini, with the company’s “Made by Google” event last week featuring only a few announcements about Google’s artificial intelligence — about new Pixel phones, actually. However, Google did announce several updates to Gmail powered by Gemini, including a tool to summarize emails for you, Google Meet highlights, and the ability to ask Gemini questions about your inbox.
At this event, Google also announced Gemini Live, its artificial intelligence chatbot, which Mashable technical editor Kim Gedeon called “the biggest threat to ChatGPT currently.”
