Ethical Supply Chain Initiative partners with Center for Open Supply to increase transparency

The Ethical Supply Chain Initiative, a system that encourages integrity and sustainability among manufacturers, suppliers, licensors and retailers, is joining forces with Open Supply Hub to publish supply chain data on Open Supply Hub’s open data platform . Companies participating in the Ethical Supply Chain Initiative can now choose to publish their information on the Open Supply Hub as part of the Ethical Supply Chain Initiative data set.

“Across the supply chain, we see a need for greater transparency,” said Carmel Giblin, CEO and president of the Ethical Supply Chain Initiative. “Brands and retailers are under pressure to share information about the origins of their products. This pressure comes from consumers and regulators, such as the European Council’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. Transparency and collaboration are central to the Ethical Supply Chain Initiative and Open Supply at the core. By working together, we not only benefit suppliers, who are trying to prove they are doing business the right way, but also buyers, who are looking for faster ways to identify new, responsible suppliers. .

Too often, suppliers are not centered around the supply chain platform they contribute data to. Leveraging a collaborative, open collection of materials, we aim to help more suppliers understand the value and business case for transparency and provide them with a free, public way to demonstrate that they are serious about ensuring supply chains are secure and sustainable.

Natalie Grillon, CEO and Executive Director, Open Supply Hub

Some 700 ethically certified factories participating in the Ethical Supply Chain Initiative have provided data to the Open Supply Center. The Ethical Supply Chain Initiative’s data set on the Open Supply Center will be updated every two months. The Ethical Supply Chain Initiative was originally created by the International Toy Industry Council but now covers integrity and sustainability across multiple industries.
