“In the continuation of the crossover event you’ve been waiting for, Santa Claus comes to the aid of the DCU heroes! And you must have been especially good, because this time a ruthless combination of DC’s wildest characters is about to face a powerful enemy… Silence knight!
Parker shared his thoughts on the project, saying: “I was blown away by the response to last year’s Silent Knight series, and the response from readers to our full support of Norse mythology’s Santa Claus in the DCCU.
“We follow the old tradition of telling ghost stories at Christmas (remember that line from It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year?). Then I was asked if I wanted to do another thing and had additional questions ? That’s Happy New Year.
Ketner added: “The first Silent Knight series wasn’t quite what I expected, but I loved it. Jeff has an amazing ability to take ideas like Batman and Santa’s team-up and make them work straight away. There’s certainly humor in a great story about new DC lore and real threats, but it’s more effective when the stakes are real.
Parker continued: “As soon as Lucas started working on Silent Knight Returns, our inbox was blown to pieces, and the visuals were better than anyone could have imagined.
“The Bat Office started our work early, so we had rare planning time to really establish the story and create an ominous and creepy villain. Cool monsters, exotic locales – you’re going to love Lu Cass’s clever details will be rewarding to read several times.
Keltner went on to share, “I have a background in cartoon horror comics, but when Jeff first brought up the possibility of the next issue of Silent Knight, I really had a ‘put me on board, Coach!’ Feel. Moment.
“The story leans into some great fantasy horror vibes, and I love that it could easily become a DC Halloween series.”
“We also welcome back Master Michele Bandini, who is drawing the Justice League’s lost scene in Hollow Knight Kingdom,” Parker said. “You’ll see a lot of the creatures he designed come back, so that’s in line with the first episode. One has direct contact with the other.
“You might want to re-read it before Silent Knight Returns premieres in November (imagine me winking at Superman here).”
Ketner said: “The team is great and I’m excited to alternate scenes with Michele Bandini. I loved his work in season one and I can’t wait to draw some of the monsters he introduces there.” Marcelo Maiolo’s colors and Patrick Brosseau’s lettering are humbling to say the least.
The series will be published every Wednesday from November 27 to December 25.
