Nintendo’s first new game Famicom Detective Club Over 30 years, we’ve got three complete demos, and you can inherit your saves, too.
About a third of the way through July, Nintendo is teasing something a little scary. It was at odds with Nintendo’s usual family-friendly image, but a week later the developers revealed that it was actually a new Famicom Detective Club game, the first new one in over 30 years, as long as you don’t count. A remastered version of the game. Even better for fans of the cult classic, Yoshio Sakamoto, the designer of the NES game and director of Super Metroid, is back in a new title. You don’t have to wait too long now, but ahead of the game’s full release, Nintendo will be releasing three demos to get you started as soon as possible.

The first demo will be released tomorrow, August 19th, and is the first chapter of the game. Thankfully, you don’t have to spend a dime to play, and even better, there are two more chapters launching on August 22nd and 27th, all of which are once again free, basically allowing you to play the game Most of it. Best of all, your progress will carry over into the full game when it releases on August 29, so you don’t have to worry about having to replay a bunch of stuff if you want to keep playing.

“Solving the tragic death of a student, a chilling clue harkens back to a cold case from the past, and an urban legend about a killer with disturbing modus operandi,” explains the game’s official description. “Does the Smiling Man really exist…or is there a new culprit continuing his legacy?”
“Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club” will be released on Nintendo Switch on August 29.
