This week’s throwback trailer is for the 1983 sci-fi film strange intrudercentered on aliens who settle in a small Midwestern town.
The film tells the story of the sudden disappearance of Margaret, the ex-wife of university professor Charles Bigelow. Charles’ search leads him to the beautifully preserved town of Centerville, Illinois, where he discovers that its residents have not aged since the 1950s.
As he digs deeper, he discovers a bizarre and horrifying secret: the town’s residents are actually alien invaders who arrived on Earth decades ago, disguised all the time, kidnapping humans and replacing them with replicas. The aliens are part of a plan to take over Earth, and Centerville is their base of operations.
The film follows Charles as he teams up with tabloid reporter Betty Walker, who is also investigating strange alien-related occurrences. Together, they unravel the mystery of the alien conspiracy while trying to stay one step ahead of the invaders.
Tensions rise as the aliens become aware of Charles’ investigation and begin targeting him and anyone who comes close to revealing their secrets.
The film is directed by Michael Laughlin and stars Paul LeMat, Nancy Allen, Wallace Shawn and Diana Scarwid.
